Only two stray bullet cases in 2010, says Ministry

Santo Domingo.- According to areport from the Ministry of Interior and Police, during 2010 only two peoplewere recorded as victims of stray bullets over the holiday celebrations,representing a reduction of 93.1%, and said that 1,806,093 fireworks had beenconfiscated.

Deputy minister VerioskaMella, did not provide details of the stray bullet cases but mentioned that in 2007there had been 28 victims, nine in 2008 and three in 2009.

She said that 509,406 illegally manufactured fireworks would be incineratednext week.

The Ministry also said thatlast year 12,264 drivers had been helped by the Road Assistance Program, partof the Democratic Security Plan, which will be extended from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00p.m.
