Hugo Chavez, an endearing and supportive friend: Medina

Santo Domingo. – Dominican Republic president Danilo Medina on Tuesday expressed regret over the death of Venezuela leader Hugo Chavez, whom he called a "dear and supportive friend of our country."

"We share the pain of the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. May Chavez rest in peace," twitted the Dominican Head of State.

Medina learned of Chavez’s death minutes after meeting in the National Palace with Ecuador’s Foreign minister, Roberto Patiño , who is visiting the country officially.

"I very much regret the news of the passing of president Hugo Chavez, an endearing and supportive friend of our country."
