New maternity hospital opens in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.– In order to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality and ensure quality care to patients in northern Santo Domingo, the Health Ministry inaugurated Friday the Maternity Hospital Dr. Reynaldo Almanzar.

The new medical center director Rafael Draper said the implementation of health services will be developed in three stages, starting Monday with general gynecology, basic clinical analysis and prevention of cancer and sexually transmitted diseases among other services.

The construction of the hospital and a pediatric health center, which will be completed in the coming months, had a cost of nearly US$120 million.
