Central Mountains forest fire 80% under control: Environment

Santo Domingo.- Environment minister Bautista Rojas on Thursday said there’ve been fewer forest fires during the current yearly drought than in 2012, and announced that the blaze raging since Monday, in the Central Mountains near San Juan de la Maguana (west), is 80% under control.

Rojas, interviewed in the National Palace where he rendered a report to president Danilo Medina on forest fires during the seasonal drought, revealed that a seed bank was inaugurated yesterday, which can produce more than 20 million seedlings this year.
