Another surprise walkout by bus owners snarls commute

SANTO DOMINGO.- Hundreds of commuters were left stranded Friday morning along the major thoroughfare 27 de Febrero Avenue, as the bus owners grouped in FENATRANO staged another surprise walkout.

FENATRANO president Juan Hubieres said the strike is in protest to a possible eviction from the group’s facilities in the sector Brisa del Este, where the barrio dwellers torched tires and hurled debris onto the streets.

FENATRANO bus drivers converged in a zone of Santo Domingo East, which has snarled the morning commute between the National District and eastern side of greater Santo Domingo, forcing passengers look for other ways to get to work and school.
