Showers today and the weekend

Santo Domingo.- Showers and thunderstorms are expected for the southeast, northeast, north central valley and the Central Mountains today and the weekend, from an approaching tropical wave over the Mona Passage.

The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) said the rainfall will increase Saturday and Sunday as the tropical wave will likely interact with a trough.

It adds that Tropical Storm Oscar, located 1,745 km west -northwest of the Cape Verde Islands, moving northeast at 24 kph, has maximum sustained winds of 85 kph, but isn’t expected to head toward the country.
