Santo Domingo.– The maternal mortality rate in the country stands at 102 deaths per 100,000 births, according to the Dominican Obstetrics and Gynecology Society president Ruddy Guerrero.

This indicator, registered in hospitals and private clinics, is similar to those reported in less developed countries such as Bolivia and El Salvador, the doctor said.

Guerrero also said that for every 1,000 Dominican patients, 28 have cervical cancer, 92 percent related to the human papillomavirus.
