For May election: More than 6.4 million voters, 600 polling places abroad

Santo Domingo.- The Central Electoral Board (JCE) gave the political parties the updated electoral register Wednesday, which lists 6,430,827 Dominicans eligible to vote in May’s presidential election.

JCE president Roberto Rosario, in a meeting with the political parties’ delegates, announced that 44.7% of the work programmed ahead of the election had been completed to date, of the 45.7% originally slated, but will conclude the program in the next 10 days as scheduled.

The official said there are currently 4,287 polling places, of which 704 are new, compared with the 13,583 in the 2010 elections.

He said an estimated 14,800 polling places will be functioning for the election, since around 600 more will be added abroad.
