Agencies seize drugs headed to New York, Paris

Santo Domingo.- Antinarcotics (DNCD) and Airport Security agents seized two separate shipments of around 50 kilos of cocaine in 43 packages and 4,963 tablets of ecstasy headed to France and the United States, packed in two suitcases.

The luggage was under the name of Claudio Morlandi, who didn’t respond to calls by airport loudspeakers. The drug was set to be boarded on Air France flight AF-363 at Las Americas Airport to Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

The DNCD said the ecstasy was wrapped in aluminum foil, in the luggage of Jose Garcia Saint-Hilaire, 20, who was arrested before boarding Jet Blue flight 832 to New York, leaving from Santiago’s Cibao International Airport.

It said it investigates Morlandi’s whereabouts and his possible link to a network which sends drugs abroad.
