Four in plane heist case still on the loose

SANTO DOMINGO.- The authorities persecute four people who allegedly escaped aboard the twin engine plane stolen from the La Isabela Airport, at Higuero, and taken to South America,.

Santo Domingo province prosecutor Perfecto Acosta said the Venezuelan authorities have informed of one arrest in the case revealed that those who took the plane aren’t in the country. “Those who piloted the plane have yet to be identified and charged."

Acosta said the authorities have interrogated 15 people, among them 10 Airport Security agents and of Civil Aviation. The aircraft owned by the Puntacana Group was taken October 23 at dawn.

He said the Beechcraft registry N871C will be returned from Venezuela as evidence of the theft, noting that security in the country’s airports have to be reinforced, especially La Isabela.
