In Upper Manhattan US Ambassador “feels very Dominican”

NEW YORK. – United States ambassador Raul Yzaguirre on Sunday said “he feels very Dominican and that the Caribbean island was one of the countries of reference when the American government offered him the diplomatic posit.

“I recognize that the Dominican community’s reality is very deeply rooted with my country of origin and yours,” as evidenced by the remittances he called very important and which relatives send regularly, the diplomat said.

Yzaguirre, who founded the National Council on Race, one of the most prestigious American organizations which helps development projects in Hispanic communities, and has nationwide recognition as a fighter for civil rights and social advancement.

State Senator Adriano Espaillat hailed Yzaguirre’s visit to NY, where the diplomat met with various Dominican community representatives Saturday. “I allow myself to give this memento in honor of your visit to the Dominican community in New York. It’s Washington Bridge, in Upper Manhattan, on which we the immigrants arrived to this sector from New York, where we are gathered.”
