Allegedly corrupt Police Col. gets the boot on tough journalist’s report

Santo Domingo.- The National Police on Monday relieved Col. Francisco Colon Perez of his duties as head of its Retirement Committee, after veteran investigative journalist Nuria Piera denounced the officer’s alleged corrupt actions. Col. Juan Solis was named Colon’s replacement.

Police chief Jose Polanco said the measure is pending a recommendation by a commission of senior officers designated to investigate the complaint against Colón.

According to Piera’s report, Colon used petty cash funds for personal use and also hired direct relatives at the police agency.
