Afternoon, evening downpours, but temperatures sizzle

Santo Domingo.- The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) forecasts downpours Tuesday afternoon and early evening for the Northeast, Southeast, Central Mountains and border area,

It said the showers are the result of a trough located over the country and the prevailing east wind, and that the dust from the Sahara desert has decreased, allowing the formation of cloud banks and scattered showers today and tomorrow.

Onamet said the seasonably high temperatures will continue, and recommends avoiding direct sunlight from 11am to 4pm.
