Dom. Rep., Netherlands Antilles forces hold naval exercises

Santo Domingo. – Ships of the Dominican Navy and of the Netherlands Antilles Coast Guard held the naval exercises "Vigilant Eyes 2012" along a wide swath of the country’s southern coast this weekend, to train and heighten the operational readiness of the two maritime forces.

Navy spokesman Antonio Cabral Fani on Sunday affirmed that the training exercise which began Saturday will conclude on Friday.

“These Naval exercises are performed in order to train its staff in maritime interdiction and combined operations and exchange experiences with the Armed Forces of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, among other objectives,” the Navy said in statement.
