Santo Domingo.- Dominican and Haitian authorities on Tuesday announced actions to bolster control and prevention along their shared mountainous border, where auto theft, drug trafficking and other crimes are commonplace.
In that regard National Police chief Manuel Castro was visited by Haiti ambassador Fritz Cisneas, who stressed his compatriots’ concerns with their situation in Dominican Republic, and those of Dominicans in Haiti.
"We addressed different topics related to crime prevention and prosecution and actions against organized crime along the border line," Castro said, and agreed with Cisneas that both Santo Domingo as Port au Prince have plans against smuggling.
Castro added that the meetings between Dominican and Haiti police and Antinarcotics officials, among other law enforcement agencies, will be held more frequently.
