Court to rule on charges against former president Fernandez today

Santo Domingo. – A National District court is expected to rule Friday morning on whether to hear, or reject money laundering and embezzlement charges filed against former president Leonel Fernandez and the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (Funglode).

First Instruction Court judge Roman Berroa is slated to hear the challenge to National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso’s decision not to seek prosecution against Fernandez.

The charges were filed by of Al-País minority opposition party president Guillermo Moreno, who has called Reynoso’s decision "unusual and irresponsible."
