Yesterday, representatives of Urbe, the Presidency of the Republic, Strategic and Special Projects (Propep) put the final touches to the project.
Workers of the Unidad Ejecutora de Readecuación de Barrios y Entornos (Urbe) were working at full speed yesterday to have the cable transport system in the municipality of Los Alcarrizos, which will be inaugurated by President Luis Abinader, ready today, Monday at 10:30 am.

In most of the streets of Los Alcarrizos, especially in those where the four cable car stations are located to board or drop off users, work was well underway in preparation for the preparations.

The 163 cabins operating on a trial basis were seen moving the personnel in charge of presidential security, those in charge of the assembly of the event, and representatives of URBE who supervised, amidst the characteristic secrecy, the operations at Station-1 of Los Alcarrizos, Station-2 of Las Toronjas, Station-3 of Puente Blanco and Station-4 of Los Americanos, which are spread over the 4 kilometers and 20 meters of the distance of the route.

The cabins accommodate ten people seated and two standing.

In addition to the notable presence of police patrols, Edesur units checking the power lines, the intense work of employees installing lights, handrails, trees, painting and welding, and cleaning the floor was also highlighted.

Meanwhile, brigades from the Los Alcarrizos City Hall picked up garbage. They cleaned debris from the recent patching, asphalting, and signaling of most of the streets of the popular neighborhood located in the westernmost part of Santo Domingo.

The inauguration tent.
Nervousness flowed through the pores, the access to the press was limited, and in the main tent located in Los Americanos, they were very active with the rehearsals, the sound test, and the dances that will be presented in the inauguration ceremony of the Cable Car, to which have been invited, among other personalities, representatives of the three powers of the Dominican State.

Some people consulted, such as the merchant Richard Durán, who for 13 years has had a business in Las Toronjas Park, where one of the Cable Car stations is located, valued the work carried out by the government of President Luis Abinader, considering it as “the best thing that could have happened” in Los Alcarrizos.

“Sometimes I used to leave from here to the Olympic Center and because of the traffic jams it took me an hour and 45 minutes to get there”, said Durán.

He emphasized that works such as the Cable Car have enhanced the area known as Savica in Los Alcarrizos and will give a direct benefit to the ordinary citizen who will now have a safer and more economical means of transportation at the time of doing his errands in the capital.
