IDB recognizes Santo Domingo’s Colonial City project

Santo Domingo.– The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) recognized the Integral Tourism and Urban Development Program of the Colonial City of Santo Domingo (PIDTUCCSD), implemented by the Dominican Government through the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), for meeting its goals within the established timeframe, its proactive planning and its commitment.

The recognition was received by Amín Abel Santos and Sixto Brea, general coordinator and operations coordinator of the Program, respectively, from Katharina Falkner-Olmedo, IDB representative in the country, together with other executives of that organization, during the meeting “Driving Execution towards the Achievement of Results,” which was organized to evaluate the effectiveness of the executing units in charge of the programs they sponsor in the country.

The purpose of the three-day event, which took place at the local IDB office, was to articulate greater synergies and take stock of the impact achieved by the investment projects financed by the institution in the Dominican Republic.

It also served to demonstrate the effective work, empowerment and commitment of the Program Coordinating Unit (PCU) and the leadership exercised by Mitur, which has led to significant progress in each PIDTUCCSD project.

Amín Abel Santos expressed his gratitude to the IDB on behalf of the Program and Mitur, explaining that “this recognition, which we received with great enthusiasm and humility, commits us to continue working tirelessly, deploying all our efforts to achieve our goal of revitalizing the Colonial City for the benefit of all its residents, merchants, local and international visitors as well as all Dominicans.”
