Dominican Republic and Guyana establish diplomatic relations

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader, accompanied by an official and business delegation, will embark on a trip to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The purpose of this visit is to carry out a comprehensive agenda that includes bilateral meetings, the inauguration of the Dominican Embassy in Guyana, and the initiation of relations between both nations.

The President and his delegation will depart from the José Francisco Peña Gómez International Airport of Las Américas in the morning and arrive at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport in Guyana.

Upon arrival, President Abinader is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Mohamed Irfaan Ali of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Subsequently, the President, along with the official and business delegation, will participate in a lunch at the Arthur Chung Convention Center.

A meeting between the official and business committees of the Dominican Republic and Guyana will take place in the Main Hall of the Convention Center. Additionally, the President will meet with Carla Barnett, the Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, at the Caricom headquarters.

The next item on the agenda involves the formal inauguration of the Dominican Embassy in Guyana, which will be held at the Pegasus Corporate Center, the embassy’s headquarters. Following the inauguration, President Abinader and his delegation will meet with the diaspora and recognize the achievements of notable Dominicans in Guyana, namely Leonida Minalla Foo and Gladys Accra.

Later in the evening, President Abinader and his entourage will attend a dinner hosted by President Mohamed Irfaan Ali at the Government House. The return of the Dominican President is scheduled for Friday.
