Groups demand probes, punishment of government corruption

Santo Domingo.- With chants such as "Stop that, investigate and punish corruption," several social organizations on Tuesday announced the start of a campaign against government corruption and impunity.

The groups’ representatives made the announcement after delivering a document at the Office of the Minister of Justice, where they demanded that Justice minister Francisco Dominguez order an investigations into the alleged corruption cases that have surfaced in recent months.

"This country needs a president and judicial officials who can put corruption and impunity in check," said the coalition of social organizations, the Tax Justice Foundation among them.
