Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina on Wednesday reiterated his demand that the courts "not to release criminals so easily," and affirmed that the government works to prevent crime in all provinces.
He urged citizens to make the same demand of the judicial system, and complained that despite that catching criminals is often the authorities’ toughest obstacle, they easily leave jail after arrested.
Medina’s first request that the courts act harshly against criminals occurred just weeks ago, when one of his daughters’ military escort was gunned down.
Speaking during the induction of the La Vega Strategic Plan Development Council at the Instituto Salesiano, Medina said the installation of cameras on the streets in several cities aims to curb crime by helping Police identify and apprehend suspects.
