Agents seize 343 bricks of drug at southeastern town

Santo Domingo.- The Antinarcotics Agency (DNCD) Thursday announced the confiscation of 343 bricks of drugs at Boca de Yuma (southeast), brought from South America on a speedboat.

It said the packages in 13 bales was seized from Alberto de los Santos, and Anyiro Tavarez (Pico) in a remote area near Boca de Yuma, Altagracia province, where seven people were also arrested thus far, in a joint operation with the Dominican Air Force.

The DNCD added that the packets -cocaine and/or heroin- belonged to a "powerful organization" composed of Dominican and Colombian drug traffickers. "We determined that the gang received drugs in the east of the country from South America aboard speedboats."
