Another arrest in case of 73Ks cocaine seized at busy port

Santo Domingo.- The National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) on Wednesday said it arrested a third suspect in the case of 69 bags of cocaine from Jamaica seized at Caucedo Port August 12.

Jose Manuel Alcántara was arrested around noon Tuesday with a list of the ships about to dock at the port near Boca Chica.

He was arrested during a raid an apartment at the Pan America Villa, behind the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA) in Andres, Boca Chica, the DNCD said, noting that Alcantara would’ve received the drug and then reship it.

The packages weighing 73.3 kilos were found in a container brought aboard a Liberian-flagged ship at Caucedo Port.

The DNCD added that Robert Garcia Ramirez, 36, and the Venezuelan Yonathan Alberto Reyes were arrested as they were about to leave the country aboard Venezuela de Aviacion airline flight 513, headed to Caracas.
