Garbage piles up outside school, hospitals

Santo Domingo.- Residents of several neighborhoodsin the capital are complaining and asking the authorities to collect the pilesof garbage but their protests have fallen on deaf ears.

Personnel and visitors to the Luis E. AybarHospital, the Fundación 20-30, Inc Health Center and the Doctor HumbertoBogaert Díaz Dermatological and Skin Surgery Institute and from the Repúblicade Honduras Primary School, have to endure the accumulation of refuse in thearea, with apparently no reaction from the authorities of the National DistrictMunicipal Council.

The worst affected areas are Villa Juana,Villa Consuelo, Villa Francisca, San Carlos, Los Guandules, El Timbeque, MaríaAuxiliadora, Ensanche Capotillo and Simón Bolívar. According to residents,in some cases there has been no garbage collection for 15 days.
