Senior UK official impressed by Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- British minister for Latin America and the Caribbean, Hugo Swire, Tuesday said Dominican Republic’s is the region’s biggest and most dynamic economy.

The UK official spoke during a visit to president Danilo Medina at the National Palace, in which British ambassador Steven Fisher also attended, among other British and local officials.

"This is my first visit to the beautiful country of Dominican Republic. I am impressed by what I’ve seen and with the people I’ve met. I can assure you of the British government’s support for projects in the Dominican Republic," the official said.

Swire noted that the UK is the sixth largest investor in Dominican Republic. "Our numbers are good but can be improved, we want to see how both countries can work together and improve our business relationships. I’m optimistic in the areas of agricultural, education and creative industries.”
