New Police, Antinarcotics chiefs take the oath

Santo Domingo.- Dominican Republic president Danilo Medina on Wednesday swore in Manuel Castro Castillo as new National Police chief, named by Decree disclosed Tuesday.

He also took the oath from the new National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD) president Julio Cesar Souffront Velasquez, who replaced Rolando Rosado.

Medina yesterday named Castro as the new chief of the National Police, replacing Jose Polanco, who was designated Police Adviser to the Presidency.

As head of the DNCD, Souffront will hold the temporary rank of Major General while in the post.
