Local, U.S. agents seize liquid cocaine; arrest foreigners

Santo Domingo.- In a joint operation with the US Coast Guard in Puerto Rico and Dominican law enforcement agencies, 16 jugs filled with liquid cocaine were seized Sunday aboard a speedboat in international waters.

Antinarcotics (DNCD) agents, Navy seamen, Army troops and Air Force units including a Super Tucano plane and a helicopter formed part of the joint operation, DNCD spokesman Darío Medrano said in a press release.

He said among those detained figure the Colombians Jorge Wagner López, Eniot Gómez, Blanaquicet and Rubén Gómez Pinzón, and the Venezuelan Eduardo José Gómez, who were on the speedboat.

He said DNCD agents interrogated the foreigners prior to handing them over to the U.S. Coast Guard in Puerto Rico.
