Senator wants no press in embezzlement case against him(Update2)

Santo Domingo.- Defense attorneys for embattled senator Félix Bautista on Tuesday asked the court to keep media out of the hearing in the embezzlement case against him, after the Prosecutor placed liens to avert the transfer of some of his assets during the ongoing investigation.

But Anticorruption prosecutor Laura Guerrero challenged the motion and asked the court to allow the media’s present, claiming that cases involving government officials should be made public.

The motions prompted the special investigating judge to retire to chambers and deliberate the requests of the prosecution and the senator’s defense.
