Downpours prompt flash flood warnings

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) on Monday issued flash flooding, swelled rivers and mudslide alerts for 10 provinces, as the downpours continue.

Most of the provinces under alert are in the north-central and south-eastern part of the country.

The National Weather Office meanwhile, forecasts showers and thunderstorms over the northeast, southeast and Central Mountains, from the prevailing southeast wind.

It also forecasts increasing cloudiness and precipitation today and tomorrow, from a tropical wave east of Puerto Rico.
