Chief Justice says 120 new judges needed nationwide

Santo Domingo.- The Judicial Council on Tuesday announced a competitive process to select 120 justices of the peace, to fill as many court vacancies in the country’s 11 jurisdictions.

Supreme Court Chief justice and Judicial Council presiden Mariano German made the announcement, and asked lawyers to take part by preparing to pass the Judiciary School’s exam.

He said by passing the Judiciary School’s test, a candidate not only qualifies for benches, but also bolsters their ethical values??.

German also revealed that most of the country’s benches are being filled by alternates. "We need judges, hopefully they’ll be many and capable."
