Hurricane Gonzalo to bring moderate rains

Santo Domingo.- The rains from the cloud field of Hurricane Gonzalo, which reached category one Monday afternoon, will start Tuesday morning and until Wednesday, especially the East, Northeast and North, but will steer clear of Dominican territory.

National Weather Office director Gloria Ceballos provided the information during a press conference with the heads of other emergency response agencies Monday afternoon. “Hurricane Gonzalo will pass way off to the East; forecast at more than 300 kilometers east of the country."

Ceballos said no significant rainfall is expected given Gonzalo’s distance from Dominican Republic and according to forecast models, will head north into the Atlantic.
