Tropical Storm Chantal steams toward the Caribbean

Santo Domingo.- Packing winds of around 63 kph, Tropical Storm Chantal steamed across the Atlantic Ocean early Monday, the 2013 hurricane season’s third named storm.

The National Weather Service said the storm, racing toward the Lesser Antilles, is expected to cross into the Caribbean on Tuesday.

Chantal was around 1,130 kilometers east-southeast of Barbados, moving west at 32kph, forecasters said. Some strengthening is expected over the next two days.

The five-day tracking map takes the storm near Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, the Bahamas and South Florida.
