Agents seize US$635,000 from passenger at Santiago airport

SANTO DOMINGO. – Customs agents at Santiago’s Cibao Airport on Sunday seized US$635,000 (RD$24.1 million) from a passenger who arrived from the U.S. on JetBlue flight 800.

The Customs Agency said Jasmin Altagracia de Núñez tried to evade taxes and is investigated to identify the origin of the money.

The woman reportedly showed suspicious behavior, for which the agents searched several suitcases and found the dollars hidden inside.
