Dominican Republic mourns Oscar de la Renta’s passing

Santo Domingo.- President Danilo Medina declared an official day of mourning tomorrow Wednesday for the death of Dominican fashion designer Oscar de la Renta.

An executive order instructs flying the flag at half mast at military sites and government buildings across the country.

It says de la Renta’s "global appreciation in social and artistic circles of the world is a great prestige for the country."

Special delegation

Medina Executive order 400-14 appoints a special mission to represent the Dominican government in Oscar de la Renta’s funeral services, headed by first lady Candida Montilla; Culture minister José Antonio Rodríguez and Dominican ambassador in Washington Anibal De Castro.
