Downpours trigger flash alerts alerts for most regions

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) yesterday issued alerts on swelled rivers, flash floods and landslides for Monte Plata, Duarte (especially the Lower Yuna), Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago and San Pedro provinces, and Greater Santo Domingo.

The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) forecasts scattered showers over the North, Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, Central Mountains and border area, as a slow moving tropical wave over the Mona Passage is expected to reach the country today.

It said the moderate to heavy showers with thunderstorms will continue over much of the country, more frequent over the North, Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, Central Mountains and border area.
