Subway arson spurs Dominican Republic’s 1st ever terrorism charges

Santo Domingo.- The National District Office of the Prosecutor on Wednesday announced it will file charges of terrorism –the first time in the Dominican Republic- and attempted multiple murder against Frankelis Holguin, 21, accused of torching a subway car on Monday, injuring 35 passengers.

Justice minister Francisco Domínguez met with National District prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso early today to discuss the charges to be filed during arraignment before a judge Wednesday afternoon.

Holguin surrendered Tuesday at the Telemicro TV station and was again interrogated by Justice Ministry Homicide Unit director Dante Castillo.
