Customs nabs copper-filled container headed to Miami

SANTO DOMINGO. – Customs agents seized a container filled with copper as it was about to be embarked to Miami from Puerto Plata (north) Monday night, which a man identified as Andres Rodriguez declared as disposable fabric.

Customs said container number GLDU216945-4, consigned to the company Antillana Dominicana C. x A., was downloaded from the freighter Carib Trader at 9:30pm, on suspicions it contained controlled substances, because the National Drugs Control Agency’s inspection affidavit had been forged.

When Puerto Plata customs officials opened the container, instead of the fabrics declared, found copper wires and cables.
