Israeli spouses robbed of U$700,000 in “lightning action”

Santo Domingo.- A pair of Israeli spouses businesspersons residing in Dominican Republic were robbed of U$700,000 by several individuals yesterday at the corner of Bolivar and Churchill avenues, the Police revealed Thursday.

The foreigners, whose names weren’t provided, export farm products, were headed to company in the Herrera Free Zone 6pm Tuesday, when they were stopped by the robbers in the assault, witnessed by passers-by, who noted that no weapons were brandished.

The Police said the robbers closed in on two large motorcycles and one vehicle blocked the couples’ auto in what it calls a “lightning action.” Once the Israelis were trapped, the individuals snatched a briefcase with the money after broking the glass on a side window.
