Freedom fighters rebuke Human Rights Court ruling

Santo Domingo.- The Constitutionalist Fighters Organization on Monday announced their support for the Constitutional Court’s “correct ruling” which defines as unconstitutional the country’s entry into the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR).

"We have to defend our Constitution, so we favor the Constitutional Court to extricate itself from this court (IACHR)," said 1965 Revolution veterans’ spokesman Virgilio Martinez, after laying a wreath to mark Constitution Day at the Altar of the Patriots.

“We defend only the Dominican Republic, and we cannot allow Dominican Republic to be punished for supporting and harboring aliens, mostly Haitians," he said.

They also laid wreaths at the Senate, the April 24 Constitutionalists and the Justice and Transparency Foundation.
