Supreme Court rules for Senator charged with embezzlement

Santo Domingo.- Supreme Court special magistrate Alejandro Moscoso on Thursday ordered the Justice Ministry to notify senator Felix Bautista and co-accused to provide the evidence to base the charges against them.

The ruling orders Justice minister Francisco Dominguez to reveal the evidence to seek an indictment against the legislator, who’s accused of forgery and embezzlement, among other charges.

Bautista and codefendants allegedly embezzled funds with which they acquired real estate and personal properties acquired in t heir name, associated companies and third parties, while he headed the powerful State Works Supervisory Engineers Office (OISOE).

In addition to the secretary of the ruling PLD party, Soraida Antonia Abreu Martínez, José Elías Hernández García, Bolívar Antonio Ventura Rodríguez, Carlos Manuel Ozoria Martínez, Gricel Aracelis Soler Pimentel and Bienvenido Apolinar Bretón Medina also face charges of forgery and embezzlement.
