Presidential candidates in technical tie, poll

Santo Domingo.- U.S. pollster Hamilton Campaigns on Thursday said ruling PLD party candidate presidential candidate Danilo Medina has 46% of the votes, while his opponent of the opposition PRD, Hipólito Mejía has 45 percent, which it called a technical tie.

In a statement, Hamilton said 58% of those survey said they prefer Medina’s running mate, the first lady Margarita Cedeño, as candidate to the vice-presidency. It didn’t however specify what percentage, if any went to Mejia’s running mate Rafael Abinader.

The survey, conducted from November 10 to 13, was based on 1,200 people with a margin of error of 2.8 percentage points, in which 5% said they don’t know whom they’ll vote for.
