U.S. Embassy confirms receiving bomb threat

Santo Domingo.- In a brief statement the United States Embassy on Friday confirmed having received a phone call with the threat of a bomb yesterday, which led to the arrival of SWAT and other Police teams.

“As it is routine in these cases, the Dominican National Police was notified and it immediately increased the patrol around the diplomatic mission and the Consulate as a measure of precaution,” it said.

Prior to the US Embassy’s statement, Police spokesman Máximo Báez affirmed via twitter that a threat was received by the American Consulate.
