The Government bestows Columbus Order on British Lord

Santo Domingo.- Vice president Rafael Alburquerque yesterday bestowed the Christopher Columbus Heraldic Order on Lord Leslie Griffiths, member of the United Kingdom’s House of Lords, who’s on official visit to the country together with other parliamentarians and investors from that nation.

In the National Palace ceremony, the Vice President stated his satisfaction with the special recognition, and hailed Griffiths as a figure with credibility and distinguished career, including the post as Interim president of the British Parliamentary Group for Haiti.

“Consider the Dominican Republic as the country best positioned to promote, within the international community, the urgent need to politically stabilize and re-launch Haiti’s economic development,” Alburquerque said.
