Constanza-Jarabacoa road closed to finish reconstruction

SANTO DOMINGO. – The road that links the mountain cities of Constanza and Jarabacoa will be closed from December Monday the 3rd until Friday, 23, and from Monday 26th to Friday 30th to allow its construction to advance.

The Public Works Ministry said a reinforced concrete slab is being poured on the roadbed, which it affirms would make impossible to conclude if local traffic is allowed on the route, whose construction is 90% complete.

It said the platform will be built with concrete reinforced metal pilings, to guarantee the stability of a 400 meter section.

Public Works said the reconstruction of the 27 kilometers long, two-lane mountain road will cost more than 71 million dollars, adding that to guarantee the investment, the pavement is designed for a 10 year lifespan, with permanent preventive maintenance every 8 years.
