Dominican Republic police in ‘boyhunt’ after 3 agents shot

Santiago.- The National Police on Wednesday announced it heightened its manhunt for the brothers Omar and Cesar (Alex) López Méndez, accused of seriously injuring three officers in a shootout in a parking lot, recorded on video several days ago,.

Police Cibao Central Command said the agents were wounded by gunfire by the Lopez brothers when conducting raids to apprehend them in the residential area Los Alamos, Santiago.

It said the brothers, whose ages wasn’t provided but appear to be teenagers, fled on foot then carjacked a Kia SUV owned by Hector Ureña.

The Police added that the suspects stole an M16 assault rifle from one of the officers during the first shootout on Friday.
