Landslide, coastal flooding warnings issued for north coast

Santo Domingo.- The prevailing northeast wind will bring cloudiness for most of the country and downpours over Maria Trinidad Sanchez, Santiago, Dajabón, Espaillat, Puerto Plata and Samana provinces, where landslide warnings have bee issued on swollen rivers and streams.

The National Meteorology Office (Onamet) also forecasts weak to moderate showers for the north, northeast, southeast and Central Mountains.

It also issued advisories for the Atlantic coast on higher than normal waves and dangerous surf, for which small craft should remain in port.

Residents in low-lying areas in northeastern Maria Trinidad Sanchez province are also warned of possible coastal flooding.

It said temperatures will remain seasonably mild.
