Anticorruption Alliance accuses Higuey’s Mayor of malfeasance

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Anticorruption Alliance, ADOCCO, on Monday filed malfeasance charges at Administrative Court against Higuey (east) mayor Karina Aristy, in the heels of her refusal to provide requested information on the City Hall Budget during the last 5 years.

ADOCCO also accuses Higuey’s Mayor of failing to provide figures on income from the collection of municipal taxes during those years. It also demands that Aristy disclose detailed information on the City payroll, permanent staff ant temp workers.

ADOCCO coordinator Julio C. de la Rosa said they motioned the Court to order the Comptroller’s Office and the Accounts Chamber to hand over the documents on Aristy’s tenure, for which a hearing was set for Dec. 18.

Aristy, is a daughter of La Altagracia senator and former PRSC party presidential candidate Amable Aristy, who’s also been charged with corruption on several occasions.
