Former president feels encouraged at 61, but time starts to weigh

Santo Domingo.– Dozens of officials, supporters and ruling PLD party sympathizers went to the headquarters of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development (Funglode) to congratulate the former Dominican president Leonel Fernandez on his 61 birthday.

The personalized greeting on Fernandez’s birthday, which is customary since he was the President of the Republic, began early Saturday at Funglode’s Juan Bosch Library, where he shared with government officials.

"Reaching 61 gives you greater maturity and greater understanding of the problems. The experience allows us to better serve the country. But at age 61 time starts to weigh and exhaustion is greater. Life is always a balance," Fernandez pointed out.
