Thousands rally in Bonao for Loma Miranda

Bani, DR.– Thousands of people marched yesterday in Bonao carrying banners and posters demanding the Congress to issue a law that declares Loma Miranda a National Park.

Watched by a heavy police and military presence, the protesters, led by several Catholic priests, began the rally at Avenida Libertad, then walked the Toña Díaz, San Lorenzo de los Santos, Quisqueya, 16 de Agosto, Mella and Avenida Juan Pablo Duarte to end in the park named after the founder of the country.

Dozens of environmental organizations acrossthe country, artists and students also joined the rally.
