Medina rides wave of popularity

Santo Domingo.- More than 87% of the country’s population approves the way president Danilo Medina’s Administration governs, according to the Gallup survey published by newspaper Hoy Thursday.

The chief executive maintains high levels of popularity nearly two years into his term in office, built on his confident style and instilling hope in most Dominicans, who say Medina governs for the well-being of all people.

The Gallup poll conducted Jan. 24 to 28 with 1,200 adult citizens in metropolitan areas across the country didn’t take into account Medina’s fiery defense of his country’s sovereignty at last week’s CELAC Summit in Cuba: "We don’t accept that anyone, neither small nor large, violates the sovereignty of the Dominican Republic."

Medina’s poll numbers have also earned him the title of the Western Hemisphere’s most popular Head of State.
